Car: 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2.4L 4cyl, Electronic/coil ignition (no distributor), manual tran, 115000miles
** Engine has new plugs, wires and coils. Battery tests good. Alternator 2 years old. Idle speed control module 1 year old but I notice it does get quite hot. **

Problem: Overnight rain or high humidity. Morning, car starts just fine. Start driving. Once engine reaches warm temp, engine hesitates (almost stalls) but I can keep driving. It's a very sudden, brief hesitation - (seems electrical?) Happens usually under load / acceleration. After about say 5-10 minutes of driving, the problem goes away - as if the engine heat dries the problem part out. I can drive indefinitely without a problem until the car sits in rain again.

So, I'm wondering, what engine component can work when engine is still cool and then fail due to its wetness after it warms up?????

I have and OBD scanner and and look at signals while driving - still working on getting data while I have the problem.

Thanks for any advice!!

_M

So you're saying it only happens after it rains?

Rain or high humidity with condensation - but definitely correlates with water present. No problems in dry weather.

Sometimes you can find a "wet problem only" issue by misting (spray w salted water) the high voltage parts new or not when it isn't doing anything wrong and do that one item at a time slowly. One may bring the problem back and concentrate on that,
