Hi, I have an 03 dodge 3500, its a one ton diesel with a cummins. In the last few weeks I have noticed smoke wafting by me at a sit still but I have just crossed my fingers that it was the exhaust. It's not, it's coming from my engine and i am burning oil. Last night as I'm shifting, it's a sixspeed, a high pitched whine happens when I accelerate. Today is did it the whole time I was driving, which sadly was an hour and a half of it because I had to get home! Please please please help me! Carissa

Hey the whining in the engine could be from the Alternator needing to be replaced. Depending on when the last time was you changed your oil that could be why it is smoking or hopefully for your consideration there could just be something loos. I dont know much about new year cars i strictly work on muscle cars. Hope i might have helped.

It only happens when I accelerate, and i am due for a change of oil, bad truck mom! But for some reason I'm afraid its my turbo, Tho I know zilch!

Since you said you need a oil change really bad that is most likely the reason your truck is smoking. With a turbo they normally whine but if it hasnt and just started to then i would go get it checked out at a local garage unless you have somebody in family that works on cars. Like i said before i dont know much about newer cars i work on classics and all the turbos i put in cars all whine even the one in my car and my dads.
