My Son's hunting Truck Sign In

1983 Ford Pickup E100 300 6cyc. 245K miles

This is an old beater to go hunting in but is starting cost money.

Shortly before my son left for Iraq we fixed the following. New Starter when it went out. 2 weeks later New Fuel pump. It has had a loud screeching sound as if it were a belt. so we replaced both power steering and alternator belt. Yesterday we replaced the alternator. The truck run and when it gets hot..(not over heated...but very hot) it will not restart. We replaced the battery and it seems to run down or won't start the truck after drive a few miles. I have noticed that the water does not seem to circulate real well, but the heater blows hot air. So I ruled out thermostat. Today when he parked the truck it was hot and even with the keys out the engine kept trying to restart barely turning over. Both battery cables were extremely hot I stopped it be removing the battery.

It has only been drive a few times this past week and plagued with all these problems. It set idol while my son was in Iraq. Approx 10 months.

Hope this help in giving detail to solve my problem.

The key is out and the engine is turning over- trying to start? That right? Sounds like the starter solenoid is bad.

ON A FORD HAVING A LOW BATTERY WILL DO THAT. CHECK THE CHARGING VOLTAGE. SHOULD BE 13.7 TO 14.3. POSSIBLE ALT, VOLTAGE REGULATOR, OR BELT
