I have a 2000 Lincoln LS with 3.0 liter v6 and 109000 miles. Most times the car starts and runs great. Now that the weather has warmed up I am having a peculiar problem. This only happens when the outside temp is about 50 degrees and the car has been sitting for a few hours. If temp is below 50, car starts right up. What will happen is this: I will have to crank the engine 15 sec or more the engine will then start but immediately die. I will crank again for about 15 seconds it will start and immediately die. The 3rd time it will start right up and run perfect. Once I get it to start, I can shut it off and restart it as much as I want with no problem. The car also runs great once started. I had the car to the dealer and nothing shows on the diagnostics. I'm hoping someone will have an idea on what I can check.

Sounds like you may have an Idle Speed Control motor starting to fail. Here is a generic picture of one.
