Make of vehicle (Ford/Ka)

Mileage/Kilometers 70,000

Hi All,

Ok, Think i have a fiar few problems!! Would appreciate your advice on how to approach the Garage and get to the bottom of them...

1. Even on a short spin, The blowers are pumping hot air into the car. We pulled up had a look, and the coolant was bubbling at one point!

I havent had the car very long, but the coolant doesnt look the cleanest, but cant tell if there is oil in there.... (doesnt seem to be leeking)

Oil seems ok, perhaps a little black not such a nice fluid brownie, but no milky when you open the cap.

Ive seen this could be the Heater control valve... but would this cause the car to over heat as much?

And would it cause more to the point....

A rattle that makes it sound like a Diesel even when its a petrol? Or is this ANOTHER PROBLEM?

Are you going to say its the head gasket?!? - If so really how bad is this!

I guess, i have done a little research and i see it could be a few things and i may have a problem on my hands but what i want to do is go into the garage and and manage to get to the bottom of the problem without multiple trips and ensure they check it all over...

(i'm wanting to be a little clued up...!)

Over all i havent driven the car much since i discovered the problems, and before that i was driving a brand new Focus, and despite the obvious shift in power between the cars, i was expecting the Ka to be a nippy fun car to drive but over all seems sluggish, and the rattle is clearly not right....

All your help and thoughts would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance....

First thing is to figure out the over heating problem. Probably would be a bad idea to check for leaks using a coolant pressure tester. You might also want to have a coolant block test done to see if you have a head gasket problem. Not sure on the rattling noise because that will have to be pinpointed with a mechanic's stethoscope. Hopefully you not getting spark rattle from overheating it.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
