Hi Guys,

I have an 85 Trans-Am i just bought,

It has a wicked rusty and oily V8 5.0 LG4 engine, but it runs just fine.

Smog equipment has been deleted.

What do the mechanics on here think? Should i take it to a shop?

I'm afraid there are some bad things lurking, there is a lot of rust on the engine.

Pics below.

Looks likes it's got more mud and dirt than rust. It probably could use a good cleaning.

I don't know what you are expecting. The car is 30 years old and looks like it was driven on a dirt road.

Hey Dude, Thanks for looking.

I guess i didn't know what to expect :-) I'm not used to cars this old, so i don't know what is serious and what is normal for a car of this age.

I'll get the powerwasher out and see where i am from there :-)

Can't wait to get her all cleaned up!

Absolutely know what you cover up and not power wash with water anything! Cold engine away from electrical things of all sorts so do those by hand with rags brushes or what works without blasting water under high pressure at the wrong things,
