Ignition timing Sign In

The instructions on the underside of the hood on my 89 Toyota pickup V6 say to set the timing at 10 BTDC with the "check connector" short circuited.

Can anybody tell me where the "check connector" is located and more specifically how to short circuit it?

Don't know..... but it may just be a silly plug near distributer and instructions on a label underhood! Why are you even lookining at this? It stays fine unless disturbed! SmileTom

The check connector terminals are located under the hood in the Diagnostic Connector box. The following web page should help. Timing procedure

Are you having a specific problem? As Tom said the timing should be fine unless the distributor has been moved or the T-belt has excessive slack.
