I have a 1993 Ford E150 van that has a 4.9 engine and I want to know if I can set the timing with a timing light or do I have to take it to a shop to have the timing adjusted buy a computer ? Thank You

The timing on these engines is adjusted by the computer via the ignition module. There is a way to adjust it but you need a scan tool with the Ford tests to defeat the computer timing to manually adjust it. If you don't have the tool, every time you turn the distributor to adjust it the computer will reset it back to where it was. Steve
