1992 Buick Century Special
2.5L
130,000 miles

My problem is random. 75% of the time it starts with no issue, runs fine, starts again after making stops. After several hours of sitting, the car will sometimes not start. It turns over, has normal tempo, I hear the fuel injector run, but will not start. I have replaced all spark plugs and wires and checked the resistance of both coils which were fine. I have engine codes 13 and 32.. oxy sensor (which I replaced) and a generic EGR system error.

At this point I am looking for advice, as I'm still rather new to this. I was thinking I would take my ignition control module to autozone to have it tested. Is this a likely cause, or am I going the wrong route?

Thanks in advance for helping to ease this drawn-out headache.

It sounds like you might have a sticky EGR valve

Remove the EGR valve assembly and clean it out with carb cleaner. Make sure you clean out all the passages. Make sure you use a new gasket when you put the EGR valve back on.

That would be where I'd start.

Re: Ignition Problem - Random Sign In

I've had mixed answers on whether the EGR valve could be causing the starting problem, so I did try to clean it out and used WD-40, but if you think that could be the whole problem, I'll get some cleaner and give that shot. Thanks.
