I have a 1997 Suzuki Eteem that need a catilyaic converter and the engine ligt is on the was runing find until it slow down to 0 mile per hour so had it checked out, but they didnt say what was the engie light on for he had just said yes the catilyac conv

Did you get any paperwork with the diagnosis? Does it list what code they retrieved? It is entirely possible that the catalytic converter is plugged, which would account for a severe loss of power. On the other hand, if all they got was a "Catalyst Efficiency below threshold" code, that wouldn't explain the power loss. That would be a result, not neccessarily a cause. If an engine has been running poorly, your check engine light should be on, and it can cause the cat to plug or just plain ruin it.
