I have replaced the Water Pump, Radiator, and Thermostat. The engine is still running hot. What is the problem?

You've covered about all it can be BUT!

Are you sure the correct water pump is in there? This in a truck should be reverse rotating which could mean impeller is backwards??

If so you might have lousy heater performance and not feel a warm air flow coming from a hot engine - not to let it overheat please.

Also - if always around town or mostly a fan clutch must be in good shape. Make sure it stops quickly when engine is turned off as a clue and make sure fan is drawing air in thru grille as well and not pushing it.

Seems silly as it's a basic Chev small block V8 and you would be surprised at how many different water pumps they have made for those over many years.

This isn't the hardest engine set up to purge itself of air but do be sure radiator is full, not just the recovery tank. It can take a few cycles of cold to warm to finish purging air out,

T

Edit - added part showing reversed rotation..........

Price: $37.99
Warranty:
LLT Notes: Reverse rotation

Good point T. If the water pump checks out, you may want to have the engine checked for a blown head gasket. Another problem could be clogged coolant passages in the block.
