Hyundai i20 noise under the bonet!! Sign In

 The car make clatter noise when cold start and also the noise increases when I turn the steering to extreme right or left and also when I turn the steering to extreme right or left the head light goes a bit dim.
Another problem is starts when the engine is warm and the rpm goes down a little, at that time when I press and release the clutch I hear a clatter noise from the bonnet which goes when I accelerate or depress the clutch, also the car jerks and make some noise when I change gear, especially on bad roads.
For all this problem I kept my car in service center for more than 1 month and now besides other problems the gas peddle has also start to vibrate when I accelerate.
My car is 1 year old and has not done more than 5000 kms.
Note; the engine light does not blink anytime.
Please throw some light.

Sorry as I am new to this forum, so wasn't knowing that editing only the heading clears all your post.
Anyways now I have tried to explain again, but not as good as before I did.

No problem and welcome!

This car at only a year old and low KMS should be under warranty in full, right? A month in service! Are they doing that to avoid you or put off the real fix?

Dimming lights on turns (extreme you said) along with noise suggests the belt(s) are not tight for some reason of several possible issues. A broken bracket holding a pulley and low voltage could cause several problems.

Do you have this car back or still in a shop now? Also, if for some reason this is your responsibility to fix say so plus whether you are apt to fix it yourself or what. A month is too long warranty or not,

Hi Tom!!
The car is giving me problem since the 2 month after purchase and the service guys are not able to fix it rather they are making the condition more worse. Now the car is with me, but as it was in the service center for more than month, I think it has lost it's charm of a new car. Everything in the car seems to be loose and scratched as if it has been used since ages. This is my first new car and I don't think I can go for a new car at least before 5 years, now I would really appreciate if you can help me what to do next.
The car is with me for 1 week now and strangely I see all the ac vents breaking, but hyundai is not apologizing for this instead they are saying me that it is my fault. By the way it is under warranty.

Yikes! If this car is being vandalized while in custody of a new Hyundai dealer there's trouble right there. It's not getting fixed either which is worse.

No longer just a mechanical problem that seems getting worse but a problem with this place. A/C vents broken, scratches and the like is just wrong unless you really did it. I can't say on that one way or the other but suggest you take pictures and write the mileage down when you drop off a vehicle for service work. In this case they probably would drive it some but not much to find a noise or operational problem.

You need to get to higher management over this at once for help in my opinion. Is another dealer anywhere near you?

Try looking in owner's/operator's manual for contact information on what to do and have the car's VIN (vehicle identification number) ready and a history with documents I hope you are keeping. You may need legal action on this situation and I have no clue what the rules are for your area of the world.

If this dealer is of no help bet Hyundai would like to know it.

I don't know what else to say except if troubles are that bad and no help from Hyundai to just take it somewhere else for at least a diagnosis of what's wrong in writing,

No, I don't have any other dealer near by, but for your information I called hyundai customer care for this problem and then only the car was kept in service center for 1 month, but as the problem was not rectified so when I called hyundai again they told me that they will call me within 24 hrs which they fail to do.

This stinks at best! Keeping the car AFTER you called was your punishment I would bet!

Try again and always document time, dates and who you spoke to. If this is going to be a stalemate (impossible) find out what your legal options are.

What are the consequences of doing what? Here - I'd be so ticked off I'd throw the keys and car back at the dealer if (never owned new or a loan on a car) and let the bank and dealer fight it out but would be in trouble.

Seems like you are going to end up without a car at this rate - something must be available to remedy this??

Thanks Tom, to be frank me being a girl feels insecure to shout at dealer or do any of the above mentioned steps. I am an Indian, but I lived most of the time in Sydney and now when I am back here after so many years I feel as if everything is new, I feel helpless as none of my relatives live in India and I am the only one here doing job to solve some of my paternal property issue which is taking soo much time to get solved. I feel sorry for my country where each and every thing takes so much time to get solved, I feel as if all are selfish here. Anyways please gimme some final piece of advice on what to do on this matter as to me everything smells to be fishy with dealer and also with hyundai customer care.

OK - Didn't say but moderators here can tell where your post signal came from so I knew but didn't say. Still all private just a location (can be way off) which can help to understand the situation.

Never been to India and there's lots of it so can't comment much on local ethics of the car business but if your story is accurate this is a total failure on the dealer's part.

Cars are made differently depending on point of destination. That's usually just items mandated by the place it's going with probably Canada and the US being the toughest safety and emissions standards or can't sell the vehicle here.

What to do? If you can, fix it on your own with an independent shop, sell off the car at a loss no doubt and start over?

Seems this car just gets worse with each visit to the dealer for whatever reason either because they have no clue or malicious behavior as the sale has already been made and don't care and want to be rid of you..

Male or female shouldn't matter but it could.

In short I think you need a trusted shop to look a this in person to help you make a decision and they would have the right to charge for their time and if all this is something simple enough let them fix it or declare this too expensive and chose a plan based on local advice.

I'm just one of several regulars here and mostly N. American based and notice nobody else has jumped in with ideas.
