Hyundai GDI warm intake temps normal? Sign In

Hi everyone,
I have a 2012 Hyundai Accent 1.6L GDI

The car does not have a MAF sensor and it so I guess the air intake temperature in the MAP sensor? So after the car warmed up the intake temperature according to the OBD2 is ~120 degrees fahrenheit from city/highway driving and its 70 degrees fahrenheit outside.

The dealership said everything is fine and these cars have factory cold air intake( I can see the inlet is in the grill getting the coldest air possible)

can anyone shine light on this? Is this just a bad design Or the air gets that hot before combustion?

I know MAF sensors can get a more accurate reading since they are not close the engine like the MAP sensors are but this engine doesn't have one

Thanks,
Young

MAP sensors do not read intake air temp. You have a separate sensor somewhere.

Listen to the dealer. Everything is fine.

With a little more snooping around the Hyundai MAP sensor does read air intake temp. Who would have guessed lol

Yep, that appears you are correct. First time I saw it done that way. That would explain the high temps as it is reading air already inside the intake.
