Honda Odessey Engine Knock Sign In

I have a 2006 Odessey with 52,000+ miles, regularly serviced. Engine is 3.5i vtec. Engine started to make a knock in the upper engine in the "v" area. Sounds like it may be cam or piston/lifter related. The knock fluctuates with the engine rev. I had a shop look at the problem and they performed an oil flush. Knock is not as loud but now is constant. Has anyone heard of this type of problem? Help!

Without being able to hear it makes it hard to give an opinion. You can usually tell by the speed of the knock. Valve train knocks are about twice the speed of a lower end knock. Just for the fact that the flush did quiet it down does suggest it could be due to a build up but you should still have it checked out.........

Going to the Honda dealership this morning for a check. It seems early (52,000 miles) for the engine to be having cam, lifter, piston...type of problems. Was curious to see if this is unusual or have others seen this kind of engine issue with Odesseys.

It wouldn't be unusual if the oil changes were neglected.

i do now this on that i-vtec engine the oil ports leading
up to the variable valve timing are very small in
size there about the size of a led pencil! not only oil change intervals very

important but too is the viscosity of oil used in that engine
wich probably takes the skinny 5w20 or 30 have you been using
the right viscosity oil? in the past?
