Hesitation on 2002 dodge van

Hesitation on 2002 dodge van

I am new here so bare with me. I have a 2002 Dodge Van with 175,000 miles and have not really had an issue with it until now. I hesitates as if it either is getting to much or not enough gas. Changed the plugs and wires but no luck. What makes me think that it is the fuel filter is that when I first start the van, it runs fine for a mile or two, as though the dirt and debris have not moved forward yet in the fuel filter. Does this sound familuar to anyone, I would appreciate any input. Thanks
Also, do you know when the fuel filter is located and how hard it is to change

You can try changing the fuel filter. It certainly won't hurt but it's probably more likely to be a fuel pump than a fuel filter. The correct way to diagnose it would be to use a fuel pressure gauge.

Thanks, I will give this a try and see if I can get a pressure test done. From the information that I have seen on the internt, the fuel filter is on top of the gas tank. I am not sure if there is anyway to access this from the inside of the van(under the carpet). I have heard that some vehicles do have acces to these filter/pumps so that you do not have to drop the gas tank.

Your right. this one is a non-serviceable filter and definitely not your problem. Check the fuel pressure and if you find a low reading, the pump will have to be changed. The tank has to be dropped to access the filter or the pump.
