I started my car and it starts and runs normally for 3 seconds, but then it suddenly dies with a brief screeching sound. When I try to restart the engine, the starter sounds so smooth which leads me to think the engine has no compression. Does anyone know what the cause could be? Like a snapped timing belt, or something?

I tried restarting 2 hours later and also filmed it:

Yep, sounds like no compression and a broken timing belt would be the most likely cause, assuming you didn't severely overheat it.

I can tell from the video it's a Hyundai which means it's an interference engine and you will be looking for a new motor.
