1991 Honda Accord. Standard 4 cylinder, manual transmission. We have a MASSIVE oil leak at the front end of the crankshaft that started a couple of days ago. After about 4 seconds after starting the engine a stream of oil an 1/8 inch thick comes out of what looks to be a small vent just above the oil pan under the front of the crank at a rate of about a 1/2 cup a minute. Is this just a totally failed front crank oil seal or is it something else?

Sounds like a seal went. You are going to have to tear it down to find the leak and repair it. You don't want to drive it this way. A frt leak can saturate the timing belt and cause it to fail. If that happens you've just made a bad problem way worse....
