Galaxy. engine choking and when braking cuts engine. Sign In

Hello all,
I dunno if I described the fault properly.but here it goes!?

When I drive its fine.it heats up I think and when I brake at lights the engine cut out.
Takes time to restart as I have to rev engine for a bit before moving off.
When I accelerate it feels and sounds like engine is choking.

I now have spent nearly …£1000.00 to find the same problem hasn't gone away.
Can anyone help me please????

Thanks

Thanks. As a test see if engine idle will change just sitting still hitting the brake. If it can stall, next test is to plug off source of vacuum to the brake booster. Repeat above test and bet it won't stall if it did.

Can still be just a hose but in that this is braking related the booster, hose to it and "check" valve are up there with the likely problem so far,

I am out in the car now..
Engine on and running idle.
The rev counter was going up an down .. Between 0-2 and engine cut out 3x. Now I am pressing the brake ..
Now it is running smooth. Then it cut off again.

I was told by a mechanic.. It was the coil packs.. Before he said it was the lamer sensor and the 2 sections of exhaust needed changing.
Told me to add fuel system cleaner (Redex).
2 days later it was fine... Only this week its happening again.. But more than before.

I have noticed today.. An oil leak on the rocket cover.. So I need to change the gasket.
Could this be part of the problem too!!

I'm not there but this seems more like a vacuum leak problem as brakes use vacuum and tons of other adjustments that are automatic thru computer are sensing vacuum for what to do.

If you can get it it idle anything close to decent, spray carb cleaner (just a bit) at suspect spots. Idle shouldn't change but if it does that's the area to look for trouble.

Valve cover leaking is also highly suggestive of lack of proper vacuum and probably pressure in the crankcase area which includes under valve cover. Check that PCV and hose to it are all good too.

There should be slight vacuum in crankcase. You can see that by just pulling the oil dipstick up a bit and smoke should go in, no blown back out.

Just snug up valve cover first - say just screwdriver tight - not too much or it damages it,
