Fuel or Electrical Sign In

I have a 1989 Dodge Aries. It has the 2.2 Liter engine. It runs fairly good at an idle but as you accelerate, it starts surging. I changed the throttle-body with no change in the symptoms. Can anyone help me with diagnosing the problem. Also it wont rev-up. It acts like it is getting to much gas.

Have you tried reading code with the key dance?

Key on, key off, key on, key off, key on in rapid sequence. The check engine light will flash code numbers with a short pause between digits.

Re: Fuel or Electrical Sign In

I just tried the key dance. I got a 14 code reading. Whatever that stands for. I hope this helps. I am at my wits end. It is a nice little car I just need to figure out what is ailing it. I hate to put it out of it's misery. My wife loves the car and only got to drive it once. Also I appreciate the help.

Code 14--MAP sensor electrical circuit.*

That indicate you are having a problem with the MAP sensor circuit. The job of the MAP sensor is to measure engine load through vacuum.

Check the sensor plug and vacuum supply hose for any problems. The issue could be the sensor itself, the ECM, the related wiring or the vacuum supply to the sensor.

It's located on the right fender well.
