I have an '01 6.0 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 89,000 miles. I started it the other day and it sputtered, died, and would not start again. I got my son to turn the key on while I listened for the fuel pump to kick on and it would not. I replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, 20 amp fuse, and the relay. The new pump required rewiring a new harness (plug). I did all this and still can't get the pump to kick on. I looked over my wiring job and all the color coded wiring matches. I jumped the wiring on the pump and it will come on and start the truck but I can't get it to work properly otherwise. I have run out of options in my very limited arsenal. I am here for some expert advice. Thanks in advance.

Considering what you’ve told us; it’s either an open in the circuit somewhere, the security system has disabled the fuel pump and or the computer isn’t authorizing the fuel pump relay to turn on? Is the security light on or flashing? Can you hear the pump relay clicking on and off ; at the beginning of or the end of cranking the engine? Recheck ALL fuses with a test light, making sure that there is power to and through the fuse(s) Try disconnecting the throttle position sensor (TPS) and then starting the engine. Why I say this; is if the TPS is shorted to reference voltage, the computer may think you’ve put the system in the clear flood mode; by pushing the throttle to the floor? This usually only shuts off injectors but you never know? Dan. Canadian "EH"
