Fuel Filters....change or not Sign In

1998 Ford taurus
128000
3.0/6cylinder

While my mechanic looks for a misfire on my engine this weekend would a change in the fuel filter be worth it? Presently the car starts just fine, runs very good especially with a misfire. I just wasn't sure especially since the car has years and mileage on it if a change would be good. What are signs your fuel filter should be changed?

Changing a fuel filter is always a good thing to do. Waiting until it causes a problem could get very expensive.

i know the part itself is only about $10, is it something difficult for a good mechanic to replace?

It's easy but you need a release tool to get the lines off. they are cheap.

Oh I have no plans on doing it myself, I was just asking because if it was difficult then I would assume that would mean more cost to install. Since you states it's pretty simple I am thinking the cost of the labor to install shouldn't be to high.

A half to 3/4 hour is normal.
