1998 Ford Escort 2.0 100k+ miles At the beginning of December 2008 I replaced my fuel pump and fuel filter in my car after it died a few weeks prior. Everything seemed fine. ...until it died again a couple weeks ago. Today I replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, and the strainer attached to the housing yet my pump just doesn't want to pump any fuel! When I turn my ignition on my filter makes that fun "buzzing" noise letting me know that it is not getting any fuel and I can hear my pump kind of "clicking". I'm not sure what else to do!! Please help!!!

Wiring? Corroded connectors, bad relays are somewhat common too. Can pass inadequate power on to items. Buzzing: Normal to hear buzz and it quit with key on engine off. The clicking isn't normal IMO - dunno yet on that. Fuel pressure test may be helpful, T

Are you saying that the fuel pump is making a 'clicking' noise rather than the normal 'humming'? When you turn your ignition key to the 'on' position, the pump should run for a few seconds, then will stop. That is normal. The clicking you are hearing could be the relay. Have you checked to see if you've got fuel to the fuel rail? Injector pulse? Loren SW Washington

Quote: How do you do a fuel pressure test? ________________ You put a special tool on the fuel rail to a port for checking fuel pressure. In a way like checking tire pressure except a special gauge and hook up. $40 bucks for a basic one at parts outlets. I don't happen to have the spec in front of me but it's a necessary thing to check and be right, T
