1998 Ford Fiesta mk4 1.25 16valve zetec 90K miles For a while I was topping the water up not aware of where're it was going but starting to think maybe the head gasket was the issue. Suddenly, one day, during a journey, the engine lost power and seemed as if it was running on 2 plugs..you know, that feeling when you have to tease the throttle to keep it going. I managed to drive it home and this morning changed all the plugs but exactly the same problem. It starts willingly but runs so rough and lumpy and hardly responds to throttle. I can manage most engine repairs/overhauls etc but not sure how to analyse this problem or where to start. Any help/advice would be most welcome Cheers Rob

Start with scanning for stored codes and recording the numbers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Do you routinely use "water" as in water only in your cooling system? You seem to regularly top it up suggests an ongoing issue if it need that at all. Did the old plugs show any evidence? All questions and would do all tests you can to find where it's losing coolant and general overall condition of engine, T
