FIREBIRD head threads coming out on bolts Sign In

my 2000 pontiac firebird v6 3800 series 2 engine is leaking from the head gaskets. the mechanic removed the head bolts to replace the gaskets and noticed the threads from the steel block were still on some of the bolts. he says there is no way to fix this. and i need a different head (used or new). is this true, that there is no way to repair this problem. please help, thanks, victor

Why do you need a different cylinder head for pulled threads from the engine block?

You could timesert the block and install head studs. Your talking about a lot of labor.

just spoke to time-sert on the phone, they said i can repair a iron block , they need the size and pitch of the threads and the depth. and the kit is about 400.00$. so not a bad trade off. but like you said , the labor is intense... thanks guys for helping out ,
