74000km-ish
I have been told I burn blue, I have a strong smell of sulphur under heavy acceleration. My plugs are not fouled and I haven't got oil in my exhaust. I go through 15L/1000km (according to an oil consumption test performed by the dealership). I have minor sputtering when first accelerating after it's been off for awhile but once it's at operating temp the sputter ceases. No other perfomance issues what so ever. No visible leaks that myself or the dealership could find. I have checked my coolant and it is not milky. The underside of the vehicle is not covered in oil. I noticed the loss of oil last june, i've been driving it almost daily and haven't expierenced any problems aside from having to add oil and what was explained above. I have no idea where to even start.

CHRYSLER SPEC:
The accepted rate of oil consumption for engines used in the vehicles listed above is 1
quart (0.946 liter) in 2,000 miles (3,200 km) for the 1st 50,000 miles (80,467 km). For
vehicles with more then 50,000 miles (80,467 km) the acceptable oil consumption for
engines is 1 quart (0.946 liter) in 750 miles (1,207 km).**
ANd what is your rate per 1000km ? 15L is that a typo?
Is your jeep STOCK- no aftermarket BS?

!!!! Is there a typo in that? 15L as in LITERS in 1,000 KMs? If so and nobody has a clue then they shouldn't be touching vehicles at all. Where the heck does it go? No dripping, or should say pouring out a leak but blue exhaust would be out of control - a total mosquito fogger.
It's entirely possible for a ring, something to fail that badly but at that rate you would have probably been caught running out of oil and engine is junk now.
Not all might be lost if not provoked by mishap, accident or something but check for the hidden extended warranty on major drivetrain should (does in all US TMK) with a deductible cover up to 5 years 50,000 miles (do the math you're under that) or maybe more. Can't speak for all places but totally worth a check. If burning it at all you must have codes all over the place on errors for the engine if burning and seems like it is,

The specs are posted - hopefully poster can correct that number and do the math.
Powertrain warranty is 5yr 100000 miles... Wonder what dealer is advising suggesting?

Not a typo, i used 15L in the 1000km's I drove during the consumption test, I would drive 80-130km's then go to the dealer they would check the oil level and fill it usually putting 1-2Litres every time, and i'd do it all over again until they had sufficiant data to present to warranty which I was denied do to submerging my jeep in their opinion which I definitely have not, i've had three jeep buddies hydro lock their engines and I avoid water like it's lava so I know I didn't suck water in, i've never run out of oil as I personally have been keeping tabs on it over the last year. It has a lift and tires bumpers, no cold air intake or motor killers as I call em and an aftermarket exhaust but thats it.

use the Chrysler 800 number in your owners manual see if you can get help from corporate.
Accused of "submerging my jeep" why would they think that and how can they prove it, because if it was submerged maybe insurance would kick in - flooding and comprehensive.
That much oil usage there must be an explanation ie worn rings ? Valve guides? where is it going cause burning that much would create issues codes etc..
Might want Contact an attorney, they always seam to help people see why a shared solution would be a good idea.

That can't be right. 16 quarts in 620 miles? Maybe 1.5L in 1000KM. That engine would be smoking so bad you wouldn't be able to see anything in your rear view mirror.

Unless they were checking it wrong thats what it is losing. My mechanic friend is gonna do a Engine leakdown test and see what that tells us, I may end up calling coorporate though because they can't prove it a. Because it's never been submerged and b. They weren't able to tell me why they thought it was.

Cylinder leak down test might not tell you if you have oil control ring problems, so beware. You should be seeing something on the plugs if it is burning that much oil.
A cylinder that is burning excessive oil will show ash deposits on the plug.

I'm not sure if they did, the dealership checked it and said they weren't fouled. I personally didn't check em yet.

Someone has to be able to figure out where all that oil is going. If it ain't leaking it, it has to be burning it. That's unless you have an oil thief in your neighborhood.

The way our economy up here went it wouldn't shock me if there was an oil theif lol. Yeah hopefully between a cpl mechanic buddies and myself we can track down something now, thanks to you guys I have a couple of avenues to explore so thank you all. I'll post back once i've tried a few things.

You have the suggestions now to find this. Has to be burning it if not puddle where you park it at least. Think, at that rate that's about a liter every hour or so if on a trip doing the 620 miles all at once!
Also can't believe a 2012 anything isn't giving you blaring warning lights all the time on this thing - bulbs may have burned out from being on so long!

Only thing I can think of
Maybe the consumption is 1.5L per 1K miles? and that is HIGH -
Be sure to keep ALL documents from dealer, and contact CHRYSLER direct.
Why is the dealer is treating you as mentioned - must be more to story.
you are ORIGIONAL owner?
Is this a manual transmission?

IDK, Kev - all. Hear of it thru dealers who will sometimes say anything not to go the warranty route if they can blame it on something not a defect in wait even this long and miles. Others with some persistence if real and well documented care even a second owner have had stuff like this done, with a deductible far less than this is likely to cost!

An oil leak in not what we would considered as consumption.... that is a LEAK.
SO what is leaking and why is dealer not addressing that?
