I have a 1991 Escort pony 1.9L SOHC 206k Miles. I drive almost daily, and one day the car started stuttering/choking with high acceleration. It is fine with normal to medium acceleration. The engine revs fine in neutral but with high acceleration in any gear the whole car will shudder. I have checked airflow and fuel lines and everything seems to check out. All spark plugs are clean and fire properly. Any advice in where else I could check would be great.

I used to have a 94 Gt that had similar problems. My problem was due to a crack in the snorkel from the airbox to the manifold. It was not noticable w/o taking it off. You advised you checked airflow, so i imagine you checked this, but if not, give it a shot. I fixed mine with several tight wraps of electrical tape.

Turns out there was a clog in the vacum line that runs from the crank case to the intake.
