Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

I don't believe yours is a typical EEC-IV system. It has a remote module. I think it is EEC III

Ok I found the ignition module and had it tested at Napa and the test said it was good, where do we go next?

Thanks

Back to square one. I think you need to redo your testing.

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

It seems to take me back to the spark test, should i check it between the coil and the distributor or at a spark plug? or does it matter? If i get no spark how would be the best way to check the coil? even though i replaced it, there is still a chance it could be a bad part but highly unlikely.

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

Hammer Time I have one question for you on the injector test, while cranking the engine with the node light pluged into the injector plug the light should flash correct?

Thanks

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

Yes, it should if you have both required signals of constant power and pulsing ground.

The injectors tested good with the node light

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

So, you do have injector pulse but don't have spark.

Everything there is pointing toward an bad ignition module or related wiring.

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

Thanks for unlocking,

Turns out that I have spark, I bought a bad spark tester and then bought a bad coil well once i figured this out and put all the old parts back on it wouldn't start but i heard it fire once maybe one cylinder then nothing. I turned the distributor clockwise and it started so i warmed it up a little and put the distributor back to the factory setting still running, not right but not too bad. I then checked the timing, couldn't see the mark in view of the light so i turned the distributor still couldn't see it so i crawled under the truck with the timing light pointed it at the pulley with the timing mark and there it was a 180 degrees from where it should be. Did it jump time?

Thanks

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

It could have. Might be time to take a complete compression test to find out if the timing chain has jumped.

Re: Engine won't fire Sign In

You looking for the compression readings. Warm would be better but it doesn't have to be to tell us what we want to know.
