Engine temporarily stalls (2-3 seconds) on acceleration. Sign In

I have a 2005 Toyota Sequoia (4.7 L) with 55,000 miles. Occasionally, after the car is warmed up, usually as I make a left turn (sometimes uphill) and begin to accelerate, the engine will suddenly "stall". As I pump the gas pedal, the engine seems to catch and begin to run smoothly again. This doesn't seem to happen all of the time. Only occasionally. I just completed a two week (2000 mile) trip through the Rocky Mountains pulling a 6000 lb. trailer and had no problems. It feels to me to be a fuel delivery problem.
The problem has occurred maybe 5 times in the last six months.

Intermittents like this can be very tricky to track down. The tough thing is 1st you have to find what you are losing, fuel or spark. If the check engine light is on then a code could help lead you in the right direction. Might not be a bad idea to get the codes read even if the light isn't on, sometimes codes will store without turning on the SES.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have it checked at my next service appointment. The hesitation almost feels like when I was a kid and couldn't afford gas. If I drove up a steep hill, the gas in my tank would flow to the back and expose the fuel intake. Not the case here - the tank is full.
