Engine hesitation Sign In

I have a 85 Chevy celebrity 2.8 station wagon I just purchased I noticed if the car is in park at idle for more then a couple of minuets I experience the following. At slow acceleration engine performance is normal but with a slight nudge at some decent acceleration the car starts to cut out if I keep on it the car dies. This problem does not happen any other time. It runs pretty strong when not left to Idle only when I am at Idle for 4 minuets or more like say a drive thru restaurant. It also seems like the car likes to get warm pretty quickly when not moving. Has plenty of fluid in radiator. could this be a bad EGR Valve?
