Engine dies when I put it in gear

Engine dies when I put it in gear Sign In
My vehicle is a 1975 RV w/ a Dodge 440 V-8 motor w/ automatic Transmission and Dodge chasis. The motor seems to run fine, but when I put it in to gear it dies out. I have tried adjusting the idle, but it doesn't do any good unless I crank it up to a rediculously high rpm and then the vehicle has a huge learch when it is put in gear.

Any Ideas anyone?
