Engine check Sign In

Hi everyone,
So I have this 2005 Chevy Classic(4 Cyl. 2.2L,120K). The engine has been swapped out, but I got no details on it. Is there a way to look up what engine I got exactly. Like a serial number or something? Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Engine check Sign In

Should be casting numbers on the block somewhere, but I'm not sure thats going to give you any information you want. What exactly are you trying to find out about the motor in this?

Re: Engine check Sign In

The replacement engine should be the same as the engine that what was in the vehicle when it come from the factory. That means if it had a 2.2L F engine, it should have a 2.2L F engine in it now. I don't understand why someone would go through the trouble of swapping in a different size or different application engine into a vehicle that was designed for the 2.2L F engine.

If your hell bent on getting detailed information about the engine such as the plant, day, month, and year it was made, there should be a sticker on the front of the valve cover that has the broadcast code on it. If the valve cover was swapped off the original engine, the information will be misleading.

There is also a partial VIN code on the oil filter housing that will tell you what vehicle it came from.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
