Engine Rebuild (Beginner)

I'm a beginner when it comes to automotive repair but am mechanically inclined and learn fast. I have a 22r Toyota pickup engine and plan to tear it down and rebuild/check everything (electrical wires, pistons, carb, transmission, etc). The truck will not stay running and is now making some serious noises (grinding, clicking, weird smells). The main questions I have are: What main tools do i need? (like a torque wrench? or lock ring pliers? breaker bar? pressure/vacuum gauges? ? ?). What are some key points/precautions I should take while taking the engine apart? Chilton or Haynes? This is a small engine and seems like a manageable job. I plan to be using a cherry picker to lift the engine out of the truck. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you -Tim

You're a fast learner are you..................... That means you should be able to cram 30 years of learning a trade into about 20 years. Why don't you check back then. This question is just a stupid as your truck body swap idea. Maybe you can waste some other forum's time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
