Durango ECM Question

I have a 2002 Dodge Durango that the ECM has gone bad. It had a part number of P56040331AB. I got an ECM unit with a part number of P56040482AB, but when I try it in the car, the car starts, runs for about 2 seconds, then turns itself off.
Can this ECM be programed to work in my Durango or does it HAVE to be the EXACT same part number?

UPDATE!
I heard from a man that was an Automotive teacher (9 yrs) and expert in Dodge. He made the following comment. Can anyone confirm this information? See below, and thanks in advance for your help!

If the truck doesn't have the factory-installed anti-theft system , the used computer had it programmed in and it taught that programming to the Body Computer. That programming can not be undone. Another used Engine Computer will learn that programming now from the Body Computer as soon as the ignition switch is turned on. You will need to replace the Engine Computer AND the Body Computer at the same time before turning on the ignition switch.
The problem is it's almost impossible to know if a salvage yard computer has that programming because those guys won't know, and there's no way to tell by looking at a vehicle. The only way to know for sure, unless you know the history of the donor vehicle, is to buy a remanufactured computer from the dealer.
This is all irrelevant if your truck came with the factory anti-theft system. Any used Engine Computer and any used Body Computer will work and will upgrade to the anti-theft programming automatically if it isn't already, but from then on those computers must only be transplanted into another vehicle with the anti-theft system."

I would say both. It has to be the correct module and it has to be programmed to your vehicle.

Thank you Mr. McCartney for your response.
Just for clarification, are you saying that the module I have with the different part number will NOT work in my Durango? So I must first find one with the EXACT same part number as the original?
I see from your profile that you are a Master tech and repair shop owner. Do you have actual knowledge/training on this Durango ECM module situation?
I am trying to get the "real trueth" about my situation. Have had another certified tech say it can be done, and sold a unit by a parts house that I apparantly can't use. Just want to get this car fixed, and don't want to get burned anymore, but need the proper direction to go about it properly, and very cheaply. Don't make much money, and lots of expenses living alone.
Sorry I live in Texas. Too far to go to let your shop do the work!

The only one that can tell you if the original number was superseded by the second is the dealer. We don't mix part numbers unless the dealer has verified the new part number.

Won't work. The P56040482AB is for a 2003 Durango with a 4.7L. You have a 5.9L California computer.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

One more question,
Does the VIN number tell one what the right ECM part number is?
The VIN of the Durango I have is 1B4HS48Z02F219876

The last 8 digits of the vin would allow a dealership to pull up the part number for your ECM.

I know what I have to do now, and won't waste time dealing with people that don't know what they are talking about. AND not get taken by another parts place.
Know anyone that needs a Durango ECM part number# P56040482AB for a 2003 Durango with a 4.7L ?
