I have a 1990 GM 3500 Dually, 4 speed stick, with a 454. Motor has about 50 G on it. For a while now, when i started it, it would run fine for about a minute or two, then sound as if it had just dropped a cylinder, rough running at idle and would come close to stalling if not right on top of the throttle. After it warmed up, it would idle ok. While driving, It would smoothen out and run perfect for a few miles, (10 or so) then just sound as if the cylinder dropped again. I would push the clutch in, rev the engine and it would seem to smoothen out again. The problem got worse a few weeks ago when everything would be running fine, then it would completly die out while driving, but would catch again at some point as it slowed down as if nothing was wrong. Problem worsened when it completely died while driving. Ive replaced the fuel filter, then the fuel pump to no avail. Ive also replace the solonoid injectors on the carb, and the fuel pump relay. I have a hunch it may be the throttle position sensor, although i have checked it and it does show a resistance drop. One last clue...when i try to start it now it will start when cold, run for a minute ar two then the fuel just shuts right off at the injectors. (pump is still running as it does this.) When i try to restart, i need to keep the pedal mashed and it will catch again after cranking for a bit but die as soon as i let off. Im both my brain and wits end here. Please help!!
