I have a 2001 Dodge Durango 2wd with 4.7 engine. It has 197000 miles on it. Always maintained but recently after it warms up, when you cut it off antifreeze comes out the overflow spout on the overflow tank. The tank has a level indicator in it and it is in the ok level. Does anybody know why this is happening? Is the thermostat going bad or the radiator need to be flushed?

I would have the cooling system pressure tested for any coolant leaks and start watching the temp closely to see if it getting hotter than normal.

You need to know it's full at radiator. Then from cold just feel upper radiator hose which should go suddenly warm indicating thermostat opened and feel heat blow by radiator fan (careful!) so you know it it's blowing off heat.

A flush new thermostat won't hurt and may help but I think this sounds more like a head gasket issue - pressure test cooling system suggested and checks for a head gasket putting vapor into cooling system,
