Hi I recently purchased a 93 Daihatsu Charade 2 weeks later I noticed it was overheating and when I checked the radiator it had very little coolant in it. The overheating was intermittent so I thought it may be the thermostat, I removed the thermostat and the problem remained. The coolant is being pushed out into the expansion tank. The car does not overheat, but I do keep it topped up with water. I have attached 2 videos to give you a better look. I am assuming the head gasket is the problem but maybe someone could confirm this? Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Co1STLWKs8&context=C4d396b9ADvjVQa1PpcFPiJQlkMtfzYLSSvq7PRtxnWq27U1Ta8gk= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6moyNwHi2O8&context=C419e82fADvjVQa1PpcFPiJQlkMtfzYI260s_dKyh3O_mUeVa45E4=

That does seem like a head gasket problem. They can fail in several ways not just putting coolant in oil or burning it out exhaust but sounds like the issue is compression gasses are essentially putting a vapor in cooling system which isn't going to allow for engine cooling. Important not to allow overheating any more and hurry to diagnose this for sure. Check that oil is not contaminated, exhaust fumes can be checked in cooling system, one or more spark plugs that show evidence and other things to verify it. I stress not wasting time as if let go this could not just warp cylinder head(s) but depending how hard or where what can get in the wrong place - take the engine out! If it blows coolant into recovery tank very early when just started that's a strong clue. Get help with the diagnosis as it's expensive enough so be as sure as you can before going for the fix. There's a chance that radiator or the fan for it isn't working properly. Limit using water only to just a short time. They don't sell that car where I am but doesn't matter the problem is common to many vehicles. If any warranty on it as you just acquired the car check on that FYI - videos didn't work for me but not problem and probably wouldn't help much in diagnosing this vs in person checks. If truly head gasket(s) see if there is an upgraded one available and do the job with any common other parts especially if you plan to keep the car. Again - get some professional help in diagnosing this in person so you don't waste money on a job that might (doubt it) be something else, T
