Coolant leaking need part name for replacement Sign In

Hello,
Ive been working on my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. 3.8L not supercharged. Its seemed to be losing coolant and my low coolant light was coming on even when it was full. After reading some posts, I changed the Radiator cap and removed the coolant sensor and cleaned it. The light is off however, I think I found where the coolant is leaking from. Please take a look at the pictures below and let me know what this part is, so I can replace it. IT appeared to be leaking at both ends of the "L" shaped tube, more so, on the leg closest to the engine. Please feel free to ask me anything you might need to know to diagnose this. Thanks in advance.
Luke

That part is just a plastic elbow that attaches from the belt tensioner to the engine. You will need to remove the tensioner and replace the elbow. Not a simple DIY job but can be done. The pipe can be had at most local auto parts stores. Common problem.

Well, I guess that's not horrible news, I need to replace my Serp belt anyways. What should I ask for at the parts counter? Thanks for the info.

No not terrible news. Tell them you need the plastic tube that goes between the belt tensioner and the engine. If they are not sure wht you are talking about then have them ask someone more experienced. This is a common source of leaks and most parts people will know exactly what you need. The commercial parts specialist will know for sure. If you don't mind the extra cash go ahead and replace the tensioner while you have it off. Get a tube of silicone and put a dab on each end of the plastic tube before you install it.

Yep whole thing....You will see when you get it off. The coolant runs trough the tensioner assembly. One of GMs great ideasCrazy
