Chrysler Voyager Non Starter Sign In

Hi All,

I have a Voyager 3.3 v6 grand voyager year 2000 and i have a big problem.Frown

basically i have 2 wires that have rubbed on the engine (dont know how apart from a broken cable clip) 1 being a live straight from the fuse box under the bonnet and 1 that has traced back to the coolent tempreture sensor that have joined themselves and caused big problems. the engine cut out and now when i try to start it the alarm set light flashes and then stays on but nothing else, does anyone know if on a Can Bus system can be killed in this way or has the ecm just reset itself and forgotton the set up it needs. Also which ecm would be most likely to have the problem the body ecm or the engine ecm.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Chrysler Voyager Non Starter Sign In

If the coolant temp wire was the 5v comp ref wire, then yes this could cause a no start condition. The 1st thing is to repair the wire and then see if you can communicate with the PCM.

I'm assumng you are seeing a "No buss" message on the odometer, this means either the network is down or the PCM isn't talkin.

So fix the wires and see if you can communicate with the PCM..... If not get a wiring diagram, pick the easiest sensor and see if you have your 5v ref.... Make sure you have the correct wire, the PCM will send bias voltage down the signal wire for diagnostic purposes which can be confused for the 5v ref.....

p/s the alarm is thru the BCM

Re: Chrysler Voyager Non Starter Sign In

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, i have repaired the cable and it is no longer touching anything. there has not been any no buss message and scan tools will not communicate at the moment. i cannot find any wiring diagrams for chryslers at all, does anyone have one or know where one can be obtained.

the wire in question is black with a blue stripe and seems to be linked to the camshaft sensor and then in the loom and appears again at the engine ecm is this the comp ref wire and with a basic polarity tester it shows as an earth is this correct or has something really gone wrong.

would the imobiliser have set and just not disarming with the key or remote as the engine just will not turn over and the fuel pump and spark do not have any power.

Thanks again.

Re: Chrysler Voyager Non Starter Sign In

I don't have any diagrams handy I can post at the moment. If you go to the autozone.com site you may find some there for your van under their repair section or maybe someone can post some for you....

The shorted wire and no comm really doesn't sound good at this point, but there a few things that need to be check out. One is if the PCM is trying to communicate thru the CCD lines. You can check pins 3 & 11 on the DLC, the voltage should be around 2.5 volts ( the + will be slightly higher & - lower) Pins 4 & 5 should have a good grounds (earth) on them and pin 16 should have system voltage.

One long shot you can take on this, is open up the injector harness at it's connection by the P/S pump reservoir, I have seen a few with wires fusing togethere there causing problems......

There are a lot of other checks that need to be made before condemning the PCM but signal wires shorting to power is never a good thing, also this will depend on your level of expertise......

Sorry for the delay but it's been real busy lately, I wasn't ignoring your post........just running out gas a little Wink

This is a CAN protocol DLC but the grounds, power & pin numbers are the same as a CCD, just the communication lines are different....... hope it helps some
