So. I am relatively new to car care and I own a 30 year old mobile home. Ford engine. I have just re-done the gaskets on the carburettor as per the instructions in the manual. What I want to know is if I need to apply any type of sealant to the gaskets before I place them. I have not found any "how to" page which says this is necessary but I have found nothing which says don't do it either.
Thank you.
Shannon

Re: Carburettor Quetion Sign In

Let me tell you, rebuilding a carburetor is an art than many experienced techs cannot do right. I really advise against doing that yourself. Just replacing gaskets isn't going to repair anything. There are many adjustments and calibrations that have to be performed in rebuilding a carb.

and no, you don't have to add any sealant to the gaskets. Gasoline and silicone don't go well together.
