Car wont stay running

Hi i have a 92 chevy cavalier z24. I had to fix the power steering pump because it seized up and snapped, when my boyfriend went to fix it he hit the wire that goes from the alternator to the starter and we fixed that but my car will not stay running. it even has difficulty starting. can anybody give me any suggestions?

In hope you didn't just splice a piece a regular wire there.
