Car trouble help please

1995 Acura Intergra 1.8l 4cylnder
I was just driving done the highway and these problems all started
-Rough idle(to the point the car almost dies)
-Very bad gas mileage
-Ticking sound coming from engine
-Very laggy accleration
-poping sound from exhaust(although this does not happen very often)
The car drives good once im going at a good speed but stop and go traffic is very bad i also noticed that the car drives much better first thing in the morning when its cold and bad in the afternoon when its warmer and my engine heats up really fast. Any ideas i really need to fix this problem.
I have looked for any leaks i couldent find any i replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter and no change

Arggh! When was the last timing belt job on this car? Popping noises etc are a warning of this being off its mark and could break if not kept up with on schedule,
