Camry 2000 hesitate to start Sign In

Hi, My Camry 2000 v4 hesitate to start in cold. I have to pump on the gas pedal a few time to make it start while turning the key at ignition position. Once it starts, engine will run on the normal cold idle speed 1300rpm at 70 F outdoor temp. Minutes later it will drop to 600 rpm. The driving is normal. I replaced spark plugs, and air filter. I cleaned the throttle body and the IAC Valve also. I even tested the IAC valve by shorting the terminals of TE1 and E1 in the diagnostic box; the engine goes up from 600 rpm (at warm) to 1100rpm. IAC valve looks good according to the manual. The fuel filter was replaced five years ago at a garage. What other part should I check? Thank you for any helps.

First off, pumping the gas pedal on a fuel injected car does absolutely nothing at all. What might be making a difference is cracking he throttle open and allowing air in. I would try doing a throttle body cleaning, assuming no one has messed with the base idle stop, that may help.

Thank you for the quick answer. I did removed and cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve. I put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank too. Someone suggested I turn the key to ON position(not ignition) for 3 seconds then turn it off, and repeat this 3-4 times, then turn the key to ignition to start. I tryed it in the noon time (out door temp is about 80 F under the Sun), it started without hesitation. I don't know if it was due to high outdoor temp, or fuel pressure build up by turning the key on and off a few times. How to fix this problem? How often a fuel pressure regulator can go wrong? Thank you again.

You want to try that test again when it really counts, when it's been sitting over night. That would be an indication that the fuel pressure is leaking down and you will have to isolate the reason.
