230,000
I'm burning oil and hearing a slight knocking when I accelerate faster than normal. Bad Lifters?

The engine is just plain worn out. Other than using 20W50 in it, just look for a new motor.

You could increase oil viscosity and might buy some extra time. Easy on too thick (viscosity) if it gets routinely cold where you are meaning below about 20F,

More than likely the cover gasket bolted to the bottom of the intake is bad and oil from the lifter valley is getting sucked into the intake. The burning oil will also raise the engine compression resulting in spark knock. You have to remove the intake manifold to replace the gasket. Once you fix the gasket, you'll have to suck some top engine cleaner into the engine to help clear out the deposits left from the burning oil.

Good point DS ,BUT , as HT noted , it still has 230k..Another thing he may try is to kill one cyl at a time by sliding a test lite down the boot one at a time . If the kock goes away one just one cyl/ chances are good that its bearing related , rod most likley. If the knock remains same on all then you can suspect spark knock. IMO

Open the throttle and look down into the throttle body throat with a flash light. You see oil laying on the floor of the intake, the bottom cover gasket is leaking. Done many of these.
