Belt ightener Sign In

1999 Chrysler Town and Country 3.3 21400 mi. Van has been having belt squealing. The new tightener and a new belt were installed. Belt continues to squeal. Car was brought to me. I installed a new belt, within first 200 miles, belt was destroyed. I checked to see if the replaced tightener was correct and installed right, looks fine. But, the new tightener is about a quarter of an inch out further than the rest of the pulleys and is tight, thus, Advanced auto said that the new belt of good quality did not side on the tightener and was torn up due to the misalignment, but we can not see what is causing the alignment problem. any help will be appreciated.

If the tensioner pulley is the one out of alignment, then that is the source of the problem. There can be any number of problems with aftermarket parts. It could be boxed wrong or just the wrong application. I would try a different brand.
