Backfiring through throttle body at random times.

I have a 2000 dakota 3.9, automatic with 191,000. My issue is that at random times only when idling in drive, I will start to accellerate then truck will not want to move and it will start stalling and go under 500 rpm. If i keep pressing the gas it will start backfiring through the tb. I thought it was simple so I replaced the plugs, wires and distributor cap and rotor but it keeps doing it. I even ran b12 chemtool through a tank of gas. When it quits acting up it will suddenly try to lunge forward. Any help would be nice. I am not getting any check engine codes.

What is the fuel pressure when this is happening?

I don't really have any easy way to test. It is only when i'm starting to take off from a stop and it does not happen at every stop sign. It doesn't matter how hard or soft I hit the gass. Although if i try to floor it it will backfire faster. I will try to find some way to check fuel pressue since fuel pump is factory. I forgot to mention this has been happeing for 5 years now but it its happing every day now. It used to happen once or twice a month. I have even used the STP water emoving thinking tha tmight be part of it. I have always been low income so I couldn't get someone thats a hardcore mechanic to check it out.

It may be an induction backfire due to a lean condition. Checking fuel pressure would be one thing to eliminate if it isn't a problem.

Could it somehow be the IAC valve? A friend here at work said it could be getting stuck then loosening up? The iac does seem to emit a super loud hissing sound
for about 30 seconds till engine is a little warm after sitting a few hours.

IAC won't cause an intake backfire.
If the IAC was stuck shut, the engine wouldn't idle. If the IAC was stuck open, the engine would idle at a high rpm.

Thanks for clearing that up with the IAC. I will see what I can do this weekend and see if there is any place to rent a Fuel pressure tester.
