We have a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country with 69,000 miles and the airbag light stays on. We had it on the diagnostic and the mechanic couldn't get any codes on it. He and I are puzzled to what could be causing it to stay on. It starts and runs fine. We just had the EGR valve replaced but that shouldn't have anything to do with the airbag light. Do you have any answer we could check out?

Check with your/any Chrysler dealer......call them with your vehicle identification number (VIN) and have them check for recalls for YOUR vehicle....
There is a recall for front air bag sensors cracking and allowing water to enter the sensors.
Just a thought...

Hi Jim,
We knew about the recall and checked already and our VIN number was not in the recall. Our Van was built later apparently.

Just wanting to ask .....has any other work been done prior to this light coming on or is it just in for the air bag light?
Has the vehicle been in an accident or have the bags been deployed?
CAUTION: AT YOUR OWN RISK...
INTERMITTENT CODE
A diagnostic trouble code that is not there every time the PCM checks the circuit is an intermittent DTC. Most intermittent DTC's are caused by wiring or connector problems. Defects that come and go like this are the most difficult to diagnose; they must be looked for under specific conditions that cause them. The following checks may assist you in identifying a possible intermittent problem:
- Visually inspect related wire harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
- Visually inspect the related harnesses. Look for chafed, pierced, or partially broken wire.

Jim.
I looked under the seats and hood and did not see anything loose or broken. I will try them again seeing I may have missed something.
The van hasn't been in a accident accept my son, who is learning to drive, bumped into a motorcycle that was parked but that was in the rear bumper and the little dent popped right back out as we were driving. The bags have not deployed. We do live in Michigan where there is a lot of salt on the roads. The light did not come on until a month ago and it was before we had the EGR repaired this week. We have run over potholes so something may have jarred loose. The engine light came on last spring and we put fuel injector cleaner in it and it went out.
Thanks for the information and I will certainly check out the wiring.

Just a thought..
Due to the complexity of the system and the dangers of working on them,it may be best to bring it in to Chrysler for diagnostics/repairs.

Jim,
I was thinking the same thing because it sounds like a lot of time trying to find it and because of the complications of the air bag system.
