Accidentally used wrong oil Sign In

1998
Nissan
Pulsar 1.6L
about 170, 000 km

A few hours ago I put some oil in my friends car. In less than 5 minutes of driving it started sounding and acting weird and also started to smell the longer I drove it, definitely not right. Realistically I shouldn't done anything since I didn't exactly know what I was doing. I put in 4L of "Shell HELIX 25W-60".
I had to drive it for about 20 minutes to get home.

I'm willing to go and get the oil professionally drained and replaced, however I was kind of wondering if having the oil in the car for the next day or so, even if it doesn't get driven, will do more damage than it probably already has?

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah that oil is way... to thick.
It just sitting and not being ran for a few more days should be fine.

I don't recall reading anything about draining the oil first.

wow don't know what would make you think 25W-60 was the right oil or why you should of added 4L.. you shouldn't drive it untill you get excess oil out.. drain it, add 4L 5w30 take the car in and get the oil and filter changed.
