2006 (06)
Peugeot
206 (Verve)
1.4 hdi
Around 30,000 miles

Well basically, AFTER driving somewhere which is a reasonable distance away, the accelerator will not work when i try to start the engine again. The engine starts fine, every time, but the accelerator pedal does nothing.

It used to happen every so often, but has gradually became more regularly, and now just about every time. I usually just keep turning the engine off and on until it works, sometimes it takes 5 attempts, other times 20. Im guessing it eventually works because its cooled down?

This only happens after i have been driving. When i first go into the car (when the engine is cold) it works fine.

So, I fired it into a garage yesterday, they hooked it up to the computer and said they couldnt find the problem. They said they had a car in which done this before, but they couldnt find it then either.

Uhm, i dont know much about cars, but maybe a pump is getting clogged up somewhere when the cars running, and each time i start the engine it sort of clears it up? I really have no idea.

If anyone can advise me of the problem, please do!

And this has never happened while driving, only when i first start it. Although sometimes it doesnt work when i first start the car, and after 5-10 seconds it will suddenly start working.

TMK - this car is not sold where I live but not totally important. Some later cars are not using a physical cable system to open the throttle body for intake on the engine which in turn would be critical to acceleration.

Either way but find out which one - cable or electronically actuated you need to know if throttle body is in fact opening but need to catch and observe this while it's happening. Without any codes to help my GUESS is it somehow isn't opening for more power and RPMs and probably electronic means (good guess) that it's sensing throttle position from pedal, converted that impulse to throttle body which actuates the throttle and could be wiring or actuator that does that or sending impulse.

It's possible that it's a control of fuel delivery or throttle positions sensing for other computer adjustments but those should be throwing a code IMO.

May take and probably will some pro help to figure out which or what is malfunctioning but without code help will need to see and do some testing WHILE this is happening as if working fine would elude exact detection of what is failing.

Tell a tech just what you've said - that's it's temp sensitive which IMO would lead me to engine area issues more than interior issues but open to other possibilities.

Most of us here won't have data on this car but it is a world wide site,

Tom
