99 explorer engine rattling and losing oil Sign In

99 ford explorer started dripping oil (1-3 small spots) about 2 weeks ago. Kept checking dipstick - oil level fine. started up this morning - loud rattling and oil dripping much faster. oil level appeared fine on dipstick though. backed out of driveway so other car could get out, started losing power when pulling right back in. oil loss seems to start from top left side of engine. already replaced engine at 95,000 miles - about 4 years ago. everything fine until recently. donate or fix - please advise

Common sense should tell you that if you see oil on the ground, it has to be missing from somewhere. Your either checking it in the wrong place or the fluid you see is from something else, possibly transmission or cooling system.

You need to find out the problem and cost to repair before thinking about donating it.....It might be a simple fix....

1st you need to find out exactly WHAT is leaking and they where it's coming from......
