Hi, I'm a bit of a car numpty so you'll probably have to explain things to me and then explain the explanation to me. I have a 99 Ford Ka with 1.1L engine that's done around 50,000 miles. I was driving it along yestereday and as I slowed down the engine completely cut out. I pulled over and restarted the car. The engine would start but it would stall unless I applied the throttle. As I didn't live too far away I chanced it and drove it home and going up a slope it had absolutely no power. Looking under the hood two of the cylinders (1 & 4) weren't firing (checked by removing the lead and seeing if it changed the engine performance and seeing if it would spark off the engine - 1 & 4 don't work, 2 & 3 do). The ignition coil was replaced but this didn't change anything. Also, there's a sort of hissing noise (more like a gasp or sigh than a hiss) when the engine stalls. Can anybody help? Could it be the ECU? I don't think this is relevant however I'm including it just in case, I noticed there is a slight coolant leak at the thermostat.
